Synthetic drugs become serious threat to Kyrgyzstan

Synthetic drugs have become a serious threat to Kyrgyzstan. Akylbek Segizbaev, head of the Department for Synthetic Drugs Control, Drug Threat in the Field of IT Technologies and Legalization of Drug Proceeds of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, told at a briefing in Bishkek.

«Since the beginning of the year, 216 kilograms of synthetic drugs have been seized in the republic. We conducted five major joint special operations with our colleagues from Kazakhstan and Russia to eliminate the channels of their supply. I would like to note that we receive ready-made drugs from Iran and Afghanistan, and their components — household chemicals for synthesis — from Russia, Kazakhstan and China.

This is a big problem that not only we, but the whole world is facing today.

Synthetic drugs are easier to manufacture. Large fields are not needed for their manufacture, rather compact laboratories. The components, from which they are made, are often legal and available,» he said.

According to the specialist, the synthetic drugs are mainly distributed contactlessly, via the Internet by making stashes, which complicates the search for drug dealers. Young people are often involved in this work. As a rule, the network organizer is located abroad.
