The UN World Food Program, together with the Social and Industrial Foodservice Institute, is conducting a campaign dedicated to World Food Day in 14 schools in Kyrgyzstan. Press service of the organization reported.
The goal of the campaign is to form in children of primary school age an idea of a healthy, balanced diet based on proper eating habits and a healthy lifestyle. It will be held in the form of a performance about tasty and healthy food with the participation of high school students.
«As previous experience has shown, the involvement of high school students in the campaign will change the behavior and attitude towards healthy eating in society. Primary school students and their parents are invited as spectators,» WFP added.
The organization recalled that since 2013, with the support of donors from WFP and the Social and Industrial Foodservice Institute, the School Meal Optimization program has been implemented in more than 850 schools in the country, where hot and varied meals are organized. The project covers about 220,000 primary school children.
The World Food Day is celebrated annually on October 16. The main theme of the World Food Day in 2022 is «Leave No One Behind», so that all people, especially the vulnerable, can enjoy the benefits of innovation, development and economic growth.
