President Sadyr Japarov calls protesters false patriots

Commenting on the request of individual citizens to give them weapons and send them to Batken, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov replied that if necessary, the state would take citizens straight out of bed. He said this in an interview with Kabar news agency.

The journalist recalled that a rally was held near the White House in Bishkek during the invasion of Tajikistan into Batken region. Its participants were going to go to Batken, but not everyone got into the provided buses. The news agency asked who, in the opinion of the president, was behind these people and what goal they pursue.

«These are not real patriots. They wanted to achieve their unseemly goals by taking advantage of the situation. We all know what goals they pursue. We know everyone. But we don’t touch anyone. We have democracy. Let them speak freely. But one should not, under the guise of freedom of speech, disseminate unreliable information. You yourself saw such false patriots who shouted: «Let’s go to Batken!». But when they were provided with transport, none of them got into it. If they were real patriots, heroes, they would not have started shouting at the White House, but would have immediately gone to the region,» the head of state said.

He also addressed the so-called false patriots.

Now our army is strong enough. If it is not enough, we will pick you up straight from your warm bed, without forcing you to stage rallies. This is the right of the state. Then you can show real patriotism. But God forbid, of course, that it will not happen.

Sadyr Japarov

Sadyr Japarov stressed that when the command is given to evacuate, everyone should leave immediately.

«Only border guards and military personnel should remain there. Last year, when there was a collision at Golovnoy water intake, our youth went there, they began to throw stones. They disobeyed my command to return and not create obstacles for the servicemen. Then 17 people in one area were killed by a grenade launcher. They were all young guys,» Sadyr Japarov said.

Emergency situation has been introduced in Batken region. Shooting began at several sites of the border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan on the morning of September 16. Settlements in Leilek and Batken district came under fire. The Ministry of Health reported 198 victims, 59 people were killed. As a result of the armed conflict on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border, residents of seven villages in Batken and Leilek districts, as well as Dzhekendi village in Chon-Alai district of Osh region, left their homes.

The Prosecutor General’s Office of Kyrgyzstan opened a criminal case on crimes against peace.
