Japan and Kyrgyzstan agree to suspend payments on public debt

An agreement was reached on the suspension of servicing the state external debt between the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan and the Government of Japan. The Ministry of Finance reported.

The total amount under the agreement is 692,156.7 million yen, or 391.4 million soms.

«The World Bank and the International Monetary Fund called on the G20 countries to develop the Debt Service Suspension Initiative. The purpose is to reduce the financial burden as a response to COVID-19. The Government of Japan, either directly or through international organizations, has provided assistance to Kyrgyzstan in its efforts to combat the pandemic,» the Ministry of Finance said.
