15 doctors provide psychological assistance to Batken residents

Specialists of the Republican and Osh Centers of Psychiatry and Narcology provide psychological assistance to residents of Batken. The Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan reported.

A total of 15 specialists consisting of a psychiatrist, psychotherapist and clinical psychologists work in Batken region. Eight of them are in Leilek district, two — in Batken, three — in Kadamdzhai district, and two in Boz-Adyr village.

«Eight doctors from the Republican Center of Psychiatry and Narcology left for the region to provide assistance. Five more specialists from Jalal-Abad region are leaving for Batken to provide psychological assistance to the evacuated residents,» the Ministry of Health said.

Earlier, Olga Trukhanova, director of the First Children’s Hospice, said that psychologists from Bishkek are ready to help residents of Batken region online for free.

Emergency situation has been introduced in Batken region. Shooting began at several sites of the border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan on the morning of September 16. Settlements in Leilek and Batken district came under fire. The Ministry of Health reported 103 victims, 24 people were killed. As a result of the armed conflict on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border, residents of seven villages in Batken and Leilek districts, as well as Dzhekendi village in Chon-Alai district of Osh region, left their homes.

Presidents Sadyr Japarov and Emomali Rahmon agreed to ceasefire. But, according to the latest data from the Border Service of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan, the Tajik side violated the agreements again.
