Deputy from Ata Zhurt Kyrgyzstan faction Aibek Osmonov said that Consul General of Kyrgyzstan in Turkey, Lira Sydykova, prevented the head of the Kyrgyz diaspora in Antalya from holding celebrations in honor of the Independence Day of the Kyrgyz Republic. He announced the information today at a meeting of the Committee on International Affairs, Defense, Security and Migration.
According to the deputy, he received complaints from compatriots living in Turkey on social media.
«Shekerbek Akimov held a big holiday in Antalya in honour of the Independence Day of Kyrgyzstan. He united 1,500 compatriots, invited the Mayor of Antalya, the Consul General. But our consulate did not hold any events and tried to prevent organization of the holiday. The Consul General did not appear herself, forbade her subordinates to respond to the invitation and sent a letter to the Mayor of Antalya so that he would not accept the invitation,» Aibek Osmonov told.
The deputy Shailoobek Atazov also supported his colleague. According to him, he also received complaints from compatriots against the Consul General. The deputy specified that the Kyrgyz diaspora allocated several thousand dollars from personal funds to organize the celebration, and the consular service, instead of supporting the initiative, tried to cut it off.
The deputies demanded from the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeenbek Kulubaev, assess the actions of the Consul General Lira Sydykova.
