China, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan railway agreement to be signed at SCO summit

China, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan intend to sign an agreement on the railway at the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov told journalists.

According to him, representatives of China, the Kyrgyz Republic and Uzbekistan plan to sign the agreement on the construction of a railway that will run through the territories of these three states in September at the SCO summit.

Vladimir Norov added that the feasibility study for the project is currently being finalized. In September, all preparatory work will be completed, and it is planned to sign the trilateral agreement on the sidelines of the SCO summit in Samarkand. Implementation of this project will expand the geography of trade routes from China to Europe.

On July 30, the President of Kyrgyzstan received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China Wang Yi. Sadyr Japarov proposed to sign the relevant document during the September SCO summit in Samarkand. He also drew attention to the implementation of the China — Kyrgyzstan — Uzbekistan railway construction project, which is an important national project for the country.
