Neuronavigation system handed over to National Hospital of Kyrgyzstan

First neuronavigation system appeared in Kyrgyzstan. The press center of the Ministry of Health reported.

This medical equipment helps to quickly and with maximum accuracy determine the location of neoplasms in the brain and use the shortest rational surgical approach. It allows to significantly reduce the area of craniotomy and the risk of damage to the nearby important brain structures.

«Availability of the neuronavigation system in our National Hospital has significantly decreased the number of postoperative complications. The neuronavigation device makes it possible to determine the localization and nearby important structures of the brain in real time. This minimizes the risk of damage to critical areas of the brain,» the head of the Department of Neurosurgery of the National Hospital, Professor, Doctor of Medical Sciences Buranbek Dyusheev said.

The neuronavigation system was purchased for the National Hospital through the World Bank-funded COVID-19 Emergency Response project.

The goal of the project is to support Kyrgyzstan’s efforts in the field of preparedness and response to the COVID-19 pandemic by ensuring appropriate preventive measures, procurement of medicines, supplies and medical equipment, and reducing risks for medical workers.
