President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China Wang Yi. Press service of the head of state reported.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the further development of the comprehensive Kyrgyz-Chinese strategic partnership, as well as ensuring global and regional security and stability. Sadyr Japarov noted that Wang Yi’s visit to Kyrgyzstan demonstrates the high level and active dynamics of strategic cooperation between the two states. He stressed that he highly appreciates the personal attention of the Minister to the development of a comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries and support in the implementation of large-scale projects aimed at developing the economy of Kyrgyzstan. He expressed confidence that this visit would become a bright historical milestone in the Kyrgyz-Chinese relations.
Speaking about the sphere of foreign economic relations, Sadyr Japarov noted that Kyrgyzstan considers China as its main partner.
«We are interested in developing mutual trade and promoting joint investment projects. Trade and economic cooperation will be facilitated by the alignment of our country’s Development Strategy with the Chinese side’s «One Belt, One Road» initiative,» he said.
The head of state stressed that he highly appreciates the grant assistance provided by the PRC Government for the implementation of social and economic projects in Kyrgyzstan. Sadyr Japarov noted with satisfaction the start of work on the Bypass Chui Canal — 2 project, which is of great importance in providing a vast region of Kyrgyzstan with irrigation water. This project will allow to more economically and efficiently use the available water resources to ensure food security, as well as address issues of improving the level of social and economic development of Chui region.
He also drew attention to the implementation of China — Kyrgyzstan — Uzbekistan railway construction project, which is an important national project for the country.
Sadyr Japarov suggested signing a relevant document during the September summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Samarkand.
He expressed the opinion that the China — Kyrgyzstan — Uzbekistan railway will be an important addition to President Xi Jinping’s «One Belt, One Road» initiative. He expressed his gratitude for arrival of Chinese specialists in Kyrgyzstan and start of field research.
«Kyrgyzstan supports the initiatives of the Chinese side, voiced and proposed within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization,» Sadyr Japarov said.
The President drew attention to the fact that Kyrgyzstan intends to continue fruitful cooperation within all international platforms, including the UN, the World Health Organization, meetings on interaction and confidence-building measures in Asia and others.
In turn, Wang Yi noted that the meeting of the leaders of the two countries in February this year gave a powerful impetus to the development of bilateral relations and comprehensive strategic partnership.
Wang Yi, highly appreciating the political and social stability in Kyrgyzstan and the firm determination of the President of the country to carry out reforms, stressed that the Chinese side cherishes friendly relations with Kyrgyzstan and highly appreciates the willingness of the Kyrgyz side to further develop friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
Regarding the China — Kyrgyzstan — Uzbekistan railway issue, Wang Yi noted that the Chinese side was ready to conduct a feasibility study involving three parties.
«Thus, the process of implementation of this project is already starting. Taking into account the desire of both the Kyrgyz and Uzbek sides, we are ready to explore the possibilities of concluding a trilateral document on this project at the upcoming summit in September in Samarkand,» he said.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of China also expressed hope for the speedy completion of construction of the Bypass Chui Canal — 2, which is of great social and economic importance for Kyrgyzstan.
