It is planned to allocate 8.5 billion soms from the budget to ensure food security by the end of the year. Finance Minister of Kyrgyzstan Almaz Baketaev announced at a press conference today.
According to him, initially, 400 million soms were allocated for these purposes. But the current situation in the external and internal food markets forced to reconsider plans and significantly increase spending.
«We must admit that the situation is difficult. At least 2,188 billion soms were allocated to ensure food security in 2021. For the first half of 2022, financing is estimated at 5.8 billion. The figure will be increased to 8.5 billion soms by the end of the year. It includes the provision with seeds, crops, sugar, oil, fuel and lubricants,» the official concluded.
