WHO in Kyrgyzstan donates bags for family doctors

The WHO Country Office in Kyrgyzstan purchased and handed over 190 bags for family doctors to healthcare organizations. Press service of the representative office of the World Health Organization (WHO) reported.

According to it, the bags contain the necessary medical equipment for measuring blood pressure, blood glucose, hemoglobin and basic urine tests, pulse oximeters, thermometers, tourniquets, flashlights and stethoscopes for pregnant women. In addition, they contain portable CTG devices (cardiotocographs) for determining and recording the heart rate of the fetus in pregnant women.

«The bags are very convenient to carry for home visits to patients, as well as for patient care at Family Medicine Centers. The bags were distributed among family doctors in Chui region as a pilot initiative,» the WHO office said.

In addition, six Family Medicine Centers will receive HemoCue blood analyzers for the rapid determination of hemoglobin in the blood of patients with anemia and in emergencies.

WHO Representative in Kyrgyzstan Nazira Artykova said that this initiative is still a pilot one. «Within two months, we will collect information and feedback from doctors on whether the provided equipment and supplies were useful,» she said.

The bags were purchased with the financial support of the European Union.
