Ex-head of Federation of Trade Unions placed under house arrest

Former head of the Federation of Trade Unions Mirbek Asanakunov will be kept under house arrest during the investigation until June 25. The decision was made by the Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek.

Earlier, the press center of the State Committee for National Security reported that the former heads of trade unions are suspected of embezzling 5,756,700 soms. They were detained.

«A criminal case was initiated under the article «Corruption» on the facts of numerous violations, on the basis of the materials collected and the results of an audit by the Accounts Chamber. A corruption conspiracy was established between the former chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions with officials, individuals and other unidentified persons, aimed at embezzlement of entrusted property in the amount of 5,756,700 soms, as well as other facts of illegal actions with real estate and financial resources for the purpose of personal enrichment,» the state committee informed.

Investigation also established that the former chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions forged entries in his work record book in order to be elected to the post.

«During a search in the basement of his house, electronic devices were found — a mining farm, the legality of which will also be verified as part of the investigation,» the state committee said.
