Readiness of students for PISA 2025 is tested in Kyrgyzstan. Press service of the Ministry of Education and Science reported.
According to it, diagnostic testing of functional literacy in mathematics, reading and natural sciences is carried out on June 2-3 among students of grades 5-6 in Bishkek and Sokuluk district.
«The National Center for Assessment of the Quality of Education and Information Technologies of the Ministry of Education and Science, with the support of the World Bank, adapted and developed functional literacy tests, questionnaires for students, teachers and school administration. Based on the results of the testing, an analytical report will be prepared on the indicators of schools with recommendations to support secondary educational organizations to improve the level of functional literacy of students,» the ministry said.
PISA is a program of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development for international student assessment. It assesses the ability of 15-year-olds to use knowledge and skills in reading, math and science to solve real life problems.
The test has been held every three years since the 2000s. Kyrgyzstan participated in the assessment of educational achievements of 15-year-old students in 2006 and 2009. The results were disappointing: Kyrgyz students took the last place out of 60 countries that took part in the test.
