Akylbek Japarov visits Kambarata-1 construction site

Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Japarov got acquainted with the progress of preparatory work for the start of construction of Kambarata hydroelectric power station-1 on Naryn river in Toktogul district of Jalal-Abad region. Press service of the Cabinet reported.

Energy Minister Doskul Bekmurzaev said that work would be carried out within two years to restore and build roads, bridges, premises and create other necessary infrastructure for workers.

It is planned to put the first generating unit of the hydroelectric power station into operation in eight years.

Akylbek Japarov instructed to ensure the quality of preparatory work at the facility.

According to the data, Kambarata-1 with a capacity of 1,860 megawatts will generate 5 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity per year. According to preliminary estimates, the height of the dam will be 256 meters, and the volume of water accumulated at the hydroelectric power station may exceed 5 billion cubic meters.
