EAEU simplifies rules for confirming origin of imported goods

The Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission decided to simplify the procedure for documented confirmation of the origin of goods imported from countries with which the EAEU has concluded free trade agreements. The Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) reports.

It will be possible on a temporary basis to use copies of certificates of origin of goods to obtain tariff preferences.

«The Commission has already simplified the process for goods from developing and least developed countries. The opportunity to use copies of documents of origin will also be provided to our partners in the free trade regime,» Andrey Slepnev, Minister in charge of Trade of the EEC, explained.

Earlier, he already noted that it is necessary to reduce any administrative burden on business in the external pressure situation. Adoption of such decisions will make it possible to level the difficulties faced by economic operators in conducting their foreign trade activities.

«I would also like to emphasize that a significant part of preferential imports from the countries — partners of the Eurasian Economic Union in free trade, as well as developing and least developed states, are food products. Therefore, the decision of the Council will contribute to the food stability of the EAEU countries,» Andrey Slepnev noted.

The decision comes into force after 10 calendar days from the date of its official publication and will be valid until December 31, 2023.
