A monument to Chingiz Aitmatov, the People’s Writer of Kyrgyzstan, will be erected in the Turkish city of Elazig. It was announced during a working visit of the Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Turkey Kubanychbek Omuraliev to the city.
The press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic reports that a memorable event dedicated to the famous writer was held in Elazığ. In 2007, Aitmatov visited Elazığ to attend the Khazar Poetry Festival.
A park named after Chingiz Aitmatov was opened there with the participation of cultural figures and writers, and a decision was made to erect a monument to the writer.
Kubanychbek Omuraliev also met with Kyrgyzstanis living in this region of Turkey.
