COVID-19: Virology laboratories opened in three districts of Chui region

Virology laboratories have been opened in three districts of Chui region to detect COVID-19. Press center of the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan reported.

According to it, virology laboratories of the interdistrict centers of the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance Department of Issyk-Ata, Sokuluk and Zhaiyl districts have been launched.

«The ILAB information system has been installed in the laboratories. Its advantages are that the passport data is generated from the information system of the State Registration Service, which eliminates technical errors. The system itself enters the patient’s passport data. Patients/clients can print and receive the results of PCR analysis themselves that eliminates unnecessary contact with people. In addition, the laboratories are connected to Travel without COVID-19 application,» the Ministry of Health noted.

The facilities have been built as part of COVID-19 Emergency Support project of the Islamic Development Bank.

The ministry noted that in total it is planned to build 10 new PCR laboratories. «Five of them have been completed. It is expected that in the future, in addition to laboratory diagnostics of coronavirus infection, they will also diagnose other infections by PCR method (influenza, measles, rubella, hepatitis, and others),» the ministry added.
