The European Union allocates €32 million to support the education system of Kyrgyzstan. Press service of the Ministry of Education and Science reported.
According to it, signing of a financial agreement between the Kyrgyz Republic and the European Union under the program «Contract for reforms in the education sector» has taken place.
«The European Union will provide a grant to the Ministry of Education and Science — €32 million, €27 million of which will be used to support the national budget of the country and €5 million — for additional support,» the statement says.
The ministry added that EU aid is aimed at helping to continue the reform of the education sector with a special focus on inclusive and equitable quality education in line with Sustainable Development Goals 4 and 5.
The department’s main activities under this assistance will focus on promoting the following values:
- Inclusive and equitable quality education, allowing more children to achieve at least a minimum level of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) proficiency, eliminating gender blindness in new teaching and learning materials, and increasing the number of schools with inclusive education allowing to engage children with disabilities in learning;
- Development of digital skills to increase the number of teachers trained in information and communication technologies and the number of students who use computers at school at least once a week;
- Media literacy development, allowing for systematic media literacy training for teachers and students;
- Development of «green» skills to enable systematic «green» skills training for teachers and students.
