Meeting on improvement of the work of courts and judges of the Kyrgyz Republic took place in Bishkek on Monday. Press service of the President reported.
Its participants discussed the results of activities of the working group established on the initiative of the department of cooperation with courts and prosecution authorities of the Presidential Administration with involvement of experts of the Kyrgyz Association of Women Judges.
Participants discussed key issues on further introduction of a system of audio and video recording of court hearings to improve their transparency, and considered draft regulations on conducting a professional assessment of the quality of work of judges, as well as regulations providing for the introduction of the system for assessment of judicial performance at the legislative level.
Professional assessment of judges' activity is introduced in order to improve the quality of justice, the responsibility of judges, as well as to create fair conditions for their promotion.
The drafts provide that a professional assessment of the quality of work of judges will be carried out with respect to all judges every three years. Only on the basis of its results qualification classes will be assigned, heads of courts will be appointed and judges will be sent for training, if they receive low ratings.
