Milk in Kyrgyzstan rises in price by 3 soms for two weeks

Price of unpasteurized milk in Kyrgyzstan has risen by 3.05 soms, or 6.1 percent since the beginning of the year. The National Statistical Committee provided such data.

If in December 2021, the average price of the product was 49.96 soms, then in mid-January 2022 the price reached 53.01 soms.

The product price increased the most in Talas (by 9.3 soms), Tokmak (by 6.2 soms) and Pokrovka village (by 7.85 soms). At the same time, milk prices did not change in Balykchy, Kerben, Isfana, Batken, Uzgen and Osh.

The State Agency for Antimonopoly Regulation explains the increase in milk prices by a seasonal factor — a winter decrease in milk yields and a reduction in the supply of raw milk.

«Milk prices are also highly dependent on the cost of fodder, which accounts for about 50 percent in the cost of milk, and prices for it have a tendency to increase. This year, the purchase price of raw milk has increased, and as a consequence, pasteurized milk for the consumer has risen adequately in price.

According to the territorial divisions of the agency, the purchase prices of raw milk reach 35-45 soms per liter, whereas they did not exceed 25 soms in previous years,» the state agency said.
