Kyrgyzstani nominated for Ernest Hemingway Prize

Nominees for the Ernest Hemingway Prize by New World magazine have been announced. It is reported on the official website of the prize.

The Ernest Hemingway Prize is an international literary prize established to support Russian-speaking authors whose works reflect a desire to search for new artistic forms and to expand linguistic and semantic borders. The award was established in Toronto (Canada) in 2015 by the well-known Canadian publishing house Litsvet.

One of the nominees for the prize this year is Diana Svetlichnaya from Kyrgyzstan. She graduated from the journalism department of the Kyrgyz State National University, she teaches at the Department of Journalism at the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University and her works have been published in the following magazines: Druzhba Narodov (Moscow), Podyem (Voronezh), Prostor (Almaty), Literaturniy Kyrgyzstan (Bishkek), Kultura (Bishkek), Idiot (St. Petersburg), literary almanacs, online and glossy magazines in different countries.

The award is given for works written in Russian or for literary translation into Russian, published in New World magazine. The jury consists of writers, journalists, publishers and award coordinators.

Winners in each category are awarded the original Ernest Hemingway Literary Prize winner’s medal and a diploma. After the awarding ceremony, the organizers make a TV program about the books of the winners.

The names of the laureates will be announced in the middle of January 2022.
