In the last year and a half, Trade Union of Migrants Public Association managed to help migrants in Russia with the payment of wages totaling 11 million rubles. Its head, Zhamaldin Eshenkulov, told at a round table discussion.
According to him, employers in the construction and cleaning services often violate the labor rights of migrants.
«Young people come to Russia without proper education, they have no information in the field of labor law. Therefore, when drafting a contract of employment, they do not take into account all aspects, sometimes they just work illegally. Then they have problems with payment of wages,» Zhamaldin Eshenkulov said.
According to him, in recent years’ migrants themselves have shown interest in trade union organizations.
«Our organization has 5,403 members. Most of them work in Russia. Several Kyrgyz citizens from Germany recently joined the trade union. Migrants themselves started contacting us to become a member of the union. This shows their interest in protection of their labor rights,» Zhamaldin Eshenkulov said.
