Kyrgyzstan lacks 3 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity per year. The Minister of Economy Daniyar Amangeldiev announced at a meeting of the Security Council.
According to him, annual deficit of electricity can grow up to 6 billion kilowatt-hours.
«At least 60 percent of Bishkek HPP equipment and 80 percent of power industry equipment is worn out. Therefore, there is no investment in this area. It is necessary to increase the role of small hydropower plants, build Heating and Power Plants in areas with coal deposits, such as Kara-Keche, Sulukta. We must strengthen the power potential of the country, as the neighbors are actively working in this direction,» he said.
