Squatters will not achieve legalization of land plots through rallies - Japarov

«I want to convey to everyone that those, who once illegally seized land and are now trying to demand from the state to resolve their issue through rallies, will not achieve anything,» the President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov said at a meeting with residents of Zher Yntymak residential area.

The head of state met with them, approaching the Old Square. Residents of Zher Yntymak residential area, located near the South-West cemetery in Bishkek, staged a rally. They said that they have not been able to get documents for their land plots for 15 years. The residential area is located in officially recognized sanitary protection zone.

According to local residents, there are 1,300 houses, which are home to about 5,000-10,000 people. They cannot get public services on an equal basis with other citizens due to the lack of registration and ask the authorities to legalize their housing.

«The participants of the rally noted: despite the fact that their land is considered to be a sanitary protection zone, during the entire period of their stay there, they did not feel any harm to their health. In this regard, residents of Zher Yntymak residential area appeal to the authorities to resolve the issue with documents as soon as possible,» the message says.

Sadyr Japarov promised to instruct state bodies to study the issue, only after that a decision will be made. He stressed that everything necessary is being done to resolve the issues of the majority of the population, related to the legalization of their houses and land plots as quickly as possible. According to the head of the Kyrgyz Republic, this problem is being gradually solved in the regions. The day before, an order was given to begin the transformation of land near the capital’s HPP-2 and issue documents to residents. All of these issues take time to resolve.

Sadyr Japarov focused the attention of the protesters on the fact that the rallies would not help speed up or finally resolve such issues, and touched on the topic of land seizure.

«The rallies do not help stabilize or improve the situation — everyone should understand this. From now on, there will be no such chaos as before, when lands were seized without permission. Appropriate measures will be taken against persons who have violated the law. We are following the path of the rule of law and must learn to live under the law,» he said.
