Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan meets with Prime Minister of Uzbekistan

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Ruslan Kazakbaev and the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov discussed issues of Kyrgyz-Uzbek mutually beneficial cooperation in the political, trade, economic, cultural, humanitarian, water energy, transport sectors and joint fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

The meeting took place yesterday within the framework of the working visit of the head of the Foreign Affairs Ministry to Uzbekistan.

Ruslan Kazakbaev stressed that it was the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan who in a difficult time for Kyrgyzstan was one of the first to congratulate Sadyr Japarov on his election to the post of head of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic. This step, the Foreign Ministry noted, was perceived in Kyrgyzstan as a kind gesture of the fraternal people.

The minister also informed about the internal political situation in Kyrgyzstan and assured that the Kyrgyz side remained fully committed to all its international obligations and strict implementation of previously signed international treaties. He expressed gratitude for the assistance provided to Kyrgyzstan in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

The parties noted the importance of implementation of projects for the construction of China — Kyrgyzstan -Uzbekistan railway, trade and logistics centers in the border areas, as well as joint implementation of projects in the hydropower sector.

Abdulla Aripov voiced the readiness of the Uzbek side to provide support to Kyrgyzstan in the upcoming reforms, financial, technical and food assistance for the development of the Kyrgyz economy, including in the fight against COVID-19.

As part of his working visit, Ruslan Kazakbaev laid flowers at the bas-relief to the great Kyrgyz writer Chingiz Aitmatov, located on Chingiz Aitmatov Street in Tashkent city.
