207 children adopted in Kyrgyzstan since beginning of 2019

Since the beginning of 2019, at least 200 children were adopted by local families, 7 - by foreigners, 47 more children were transferred to foster families in Kyrgyzstan. The Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Development Alisa Soltonbekova told at a press conference.

According to her, 300 families and 250 children are currently on the waiting list for adoption. "Since 2014, at least 105 children were adopted by foreign citizens, more than 4,000 - by local families. There are facts of return of children, but there are a few of them. About 14,000 soms are monthly allocated per one child at an orphanage,” the deputy minister said.

She noted that the ministry was interested in the development of foster families.

"A lot of foster families appear in Issyk-Kul region. We allocate them 6,000 soms per month, other 6,000 soms – for providing a child,” Alisa Soltonbekova added.
