Artists of the Kyrgyz State Circus named after A. Izibaev hold a rally. They demand to appoint a circus dynasty member, well-known archer Aida Akmatova, as a director of the circus.
The rally participants believe that the Ministry of Culture, Information and Tourism ignores their candidate, and the head of the ministry, Azamat Zhamankulov, wants to appoint his own protégé to the post.
«It is obvious that corruption games began around the appointment of a director. And we express our strong protest. In order to bring an alien and stranger to the circus, they even invented some kind of competition, the conditions of which are drawn up in such a way to get rid of the unwanted leader and appoint one more sticky fingered official,» the artists say.
A month has passed since the dismissal of the former director of the circus, but the issue of appointment of a new one has not yet been resolved. A representative of the only circus dynasty in Kyrgyzstan, Aida Akmatova, and a choreographer Zarylbek Moldobakirov, who has nothing to do with the circus, run for the post.
The former deputy minister of culture Farkhad Bekmambetov, who was dismissed for the improper performance of his duties, also nominated himself for the post of the head of circus.
