Investigation of the criminal case against the ex-mayor of Bishkek Kubanychbek Kulmatov is completed. His lawyer Sergey Slesarev told 24.kg news agency.
According to him, the process of familiarization with the materials has begun. The lawyer noted that he revealed a number of violations during the investigation. The former mayor of the capital was finally charged; he faces 20 years in prison. According to investigators, in 2014, Kubanychbek Kulmatov, being the mayor, illegally used grant funds of $ 2 million for the construction of two schools.
Sergey Slesarev added that the case against another former mayor of Bishkek, Albek Ibraimov, was sent to court. But the date of the hearing has not yet been announced.
Albek Ibraimov was detained for appropriation and embezzlement of the property of TNC Dastan by purchasing special items at an overestimated price. He was charged with corruption.
In addition, according to investigators, he, together with the other officials of the mayor’s office, organized a criminal scheme for the illegal withdrawal of municipal land located in the southern zone of the capital.
