Residents of Naryn asked the President Sooronbai Jeenbekov to raise the social norm to 2,000 kilowatt-hours at a press conference today.
At present, residents of high-altitude areas of the repoublic pay 0.77 som for electricity when consuming up to 1,000 kilowatt-hours.
The head of state said that the social norm on electricity is applied not only to Naryn, but also to all mountain areas.
«There must be the same approach. The state helps those who are in need. But you need to think about the state. Debt of the energy sector exceeds 100 billion soms. Power sector will not be able to pay it, we will give money from the budget,» explained Sooronbai Jeenbekov.
He added that the power industry specialists must work on reduction of losses and install smart meters.
