The UN notes that Kyrgyzstan has a strong and dynamic civil society. This was announced today at the International Conference dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
An UN representative, speaking on behalf of Ozonnia Ojielo, the Organization’s Resident Coordinator in the Kyrgyz Republic (he was unable to attend the event due to a flight delay), stressed that Kyrgyzstan should as soon as possible join the Convention on the Protection of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and implement a national human rights plan so that the international community to be convinced that the country really adhered to the world standards in the field of protecting and ensuring human rights.
Kyrgyzstan became one of the first Central Asian states that joined the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
