All prisoners have been examined for the first time in Kyrgyzstan. This became known at a meeting of the Coordination Council on reforming the penal system.
A physician examined every convict for at least half an hour. In difficult cases, the medical workers held a consultation.
«Most often the convicts have the digestive system diseases. Diseases of the genitourinary system take the 2nd place with 25 percent of the total number of the sick convicts. Diseases of the nervous system were registered in 16% of the patients, circulatory system — in 9%, mental disorders — in 6%, other diseases — in 5%, diseases of the upper respiratory tract and organs — in 4%, musculoskeletal system — in 3%, skin and subcutaneous tissue diseases — in 2 %,» the State Penitentiary Service reported.
All the convicts were included in the list of patients and will undergo an additional examination. Those suffering from tuberculosis are kept in penal colony 31 in Moldovanovka.
