The Prosecutor General’s Office denied the lawyers of ex-parliament member Omurbek Tekebayev, who is serving his sentence in penal colony 47, retrial of the criminal case on newly discovered evidence. The lawyer Taalaigul Toktakunova informed 24.kg news agency.
According to her, the convicted leader of Ata Meken party considers the decision of the Prosecutor General’s Office to be unreasonable and intends to appeal it through the court.
«The main supervisory body explained that they did not find the reasons and circumstances for retrial,» said Taalaigul Toktakunova.
On August 16, 2017, Omurbek Tekebayev was found guilty of corruption and sentenced to eight years in prison by the Pervomaiskiy District Court of Bishkek.
