Owners of electric vehicles in the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) are offered to be exempted from the transport tax. The Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) reported.
According to it, EEU has developed measures to stimulate the production and use of electric vehicles for 2018-2020. The draft action plan was approved at a meeting of EEC Industry Advisory Committee. The incentive measures are divided into two blocks — the production and use of electric vehicles. It is proposed to stimulate the production of electric vehicles by reducing the import customs duties on imported components, designed for the production of cars with electric motors, as well as the organization of cooperative production of electric vehicles.
The measures to stimulate the use of electric vehicles in the union include the exemption of owners of wheeled vehicles with electric motors from payment of a transport tax, providing them with free parking spaces equipped with chargers.
«The draft plan is aimed at continuing the work to stimulate the production and use of electric transport after the expiration of the similar plan for 2015-2017, which was implemented within the national development priorities of the sector,» EEC Industrial Policy Department noted.
Following the results of 2017, Armenia and Belarus presented the first prototypes of the electric vehicles of their own design, the electric transport manufacturers received subsidies (900 million rubles in Russia) and consumer loans (a credit line for 1 million euros in Belarus).
