President: Kyrgyzstanis will be able to exchange old cars for new electric cars

President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov met with the head of the Islamic Development Bank Muhammad Al Jasser.

The President of Kyrgyzstan congratulated him on the 50th anniversary of the bank, thanked him for his contribution to the development of the country and awarded Muhammad Al Jasser with Dostuk Order.

One of the topics of the conversation, in addition to the protocol exchange of courtesies, was the «green» agenda of Kyrgyzstan.

Sadyr Japarov told that the construction of the «smart and green» Asman city has already begun in Issyk-Kul region.

«At first we planned to build Asman simply as a city. But our foreign partners suggested making it environmentally friendly, completely «green» so as not to harm Issyk-Kul lake. The initial project was adjusted within a year. Its direct implementation began a week ago. Construction has begun.

It will be a city where only electric cars and electric buses will move on the roads. The city will be supplied with solar, wind and hydroelectric energy.

Sadyr Japarov

We want it to be a city that does not emit harmful substances into the atmosphere,» Sadyr Japarov emphasized.

As for electric cars, a plant to produce such cars will be built in Kyrgyzstan.

«We together with China are building a plant for the production of electric cars. We plan that about 80,000 cars will be assembled there every year.

As soon as the plant starts operating at full capacity, we will collect from the population all over the country old cars that pollute the air with exhaust gases. Instead of them, people will get new eco-friendly cars for 10-15 years, taking into account the difference in cost.

Sadyr Japarov

The government is developing such a program. We plan to start switching Kyrgyzstan to environmentally friendly transport at the end of this year or early next year,» the President shared his plans within implementation of the country’s green agenda with the head of the Islamic Development Bank.
