The president promised to think carefully before signing changes and amendments to the Water Code permitting development on the glaciers Davydov and Lysyi. This was announced today by the President Almazbek Atambayev at his final press conference.
According to him, the noise, which was again raised around the glaciers, is an occasion to hold rallies.
«Two glaciers at Kumtor — only two of 671,000 glaciers of our country. It is known that glaciers melt, but more because of climate change. I’m not worried about glaciers at Kumtor, but the pool of tailings at this mine. This causes fear,» Almazbek Atambayev said.
