GKNB submits materials on Omurbek Babanov to Prosecutor General's Office

The Office of the Prosecutor General of the Kyrgyz Republic received inspection materials from the State National Security Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic (GKNB) on the candidate for the post of President of the Kyrgyz Republic Omurbek Babanov on the fact of his address to the residents of Amir-Timur microdistrict in Osh on September 28, 2017.

According to the Information Department of the Prosecutor General’s Office, the conclusions of political-philological expertise and video-phonographic research were received.

«According to the conclusions of the political-philological expert examination, Babanov’s speech contains signs of stirring up ethnic hatred; there are calls that induce citizens to actively disobey the representatives of the authorities, which can lead to mass riots. And it also contains a statement that can induce members of a particular ethnic group to take active action on interethnic grounds,» the Prosecutor General’s Office noted.

«Videophonographic research found out that the voice and speech in the recording of performances belong to Omurbek Babanov and there are no signs of editing. Concerning the publication on the Internet of the video of Babanov’s speech to the residents of Osh, which contains comments of a provocative nature, GKNB of Kyrgyzstan conducts an additional examination, which will result in a procedural decision,» the report said.

The presidential elections are scheduled for October 15.
