Revolutionary Bishkek, April 7, 2010. Photo report

Today is the 7th anniversary of the April Revolution during which the second president of Kyrgyzstan, Kurmanbek Bakiyev, was overthrown.

The events of 2010 began in Talas, where the first clashes of the police with supporters of the opposition took place. There was the first seizure of buildings of state authorities, the protesters took the Minister of Internal Affairs Moldomusa Kongantiev hostage.

After it, a wave of protests spread to Bishkek. The last straw of discontent, which eventually led to the bloody events on Ala-Too Square and the seizure of the White House, was the detention of the opposition leaders on April 6.
