Participants of the April revolution and their relatives opposed the return of ex-president Kurmanbek Bakiyev, overthrown in 2010, to Kyrgyzstan. They announced this at a press conference.
Chairperson of Meken Sheyitteri NGO Nuriya Aidabosunova noted that recently ten public associations created after the April events formed an association.
«Every family has its black sheep. There are people who, over the course of these 14 years, have not gained any wits and thought of turning to the fugitive president Bakiyev. The latter was sentenced to 30 years, is on the run and has not proven his innocence. Today we decided to give a response to people to dispel the rumors,» she said.
Chairman of April Bayragy NGO Konushbek Dolotaliev noted that incorrect information is being spread that the ousted president will build a factory for the participants of the April events.
«There are talks that 7 April Intymagy JSC has been created and includes 700 people. Bakiyev allegedly promised to build a factory for 1 billion soms, and the families of the victims would work there. The parents of the victims and participants of those events are members of our NGO, and not one of them asked or will ask for Bakiyev’s return. We are against the construction of the factory and the rehabilitation of the fugitive president,» Konushbek Dolotaliev said.
Earlier, in his interview, President Sadyr Japarov confirmed that 7 April Yntymagy society was allocated more than one hectare of land for the construction of an enterprise that would provide jobs for 200 people, and that those affected by the April events and their relatives would work there.
In 2023, President Sadyr Japarov received an appeal on behalf of the head of Aikol Taza Koom NGO Usupbiy Sherimbaev. In the letter, on behalf of the victims of the April events, widows and orphans, he asked for monetary compensation from Kurmanbek Bakiyev.
After this appeal, participants of the April revolution held rallies several times and demanded the arrest of the overthrown president.
