Kyrgyzstan records historic peak in summer electricity consumption

Kyrgyzstan has recorded a historic peak in summer electricity consumption.

According to the National Electric Network of Kyrgyzstan OJSC (NENK), on June 29, 2026, daily electricity consumption in the country’s power system reached 47,112 million kilowatt-hours.

This is the highest figure ever recorded in the summer period.

For comparison, electricity consumption on June 29, 2025, stood at around 40 million kilowatt-hours.

NENK attributes the increase in load to active construction and the commissioning of multi-storey residential buildings, social infrastructure, and industrial facilities, as well as a steady annual growth in the number of electricity consumers.

The company noted that the number of consumers is increasing by about 30,000 per year on average.

The company said the national power system is currently operating in normal mode and that necessary measures are being taken to ensure stable electricity supply under high loads.

Energy officials urge citizens to save electricity, switch off unused appliances, and practice responsible energy consumption.

For comparison, winter demand is traditionally much higher. In December 2024, daily electricity consumption in Kyrgyzstan reached nearly 79 million kilowatt-hours.
