New school year in Kyrgyzstan to begin on September 15

The new 2026/27 school year in Kyrgyzstan’s general education institutions will begin on September 15, 2026, and end on May 25, 2027.

According to the Ministry of Education, this decision was made in connection with Kyrgyzstan hosting the World Nomad Games, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit, and the celebration of the 35th anniversary of the Kyrgyz Republic’s independence.

To ensure full implementation of the curricula and lesson plans, changes have been made to the organization of the educational process in schools.

In particular, the traditional five-day school week will remain in place for elementary school students.

For upper-grade students, eight additional Saturdays of classes will be organized during the school year. It is expected that Saturday classes will be held approximately once a month.

At the same time, it is recommended that the specific Saturdays on which classes will be held be determined based on suggestions from teachers and parents.
