Kyrgyzstan and Austria expand inter-museum cooperation

On June 28, 2026, Deputy Minister of Culture, Information, and Youth Policy Salkyn Sarnogoeva met with Simon Mraz, head of the cultural delegation of the Republic of Austria and Commissioner for Special Cultural Projects of the Department for Cultural Cooperation with Foreign Countries of the Austrian Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs, at the National History Museum of the Kyrgyz Republic. The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Director of the National History Museum, ethnographers, and representatives of both sides, the Ministry of Culture of the Kyrgyz Republic reports.

During the meeting, issues of expanding cooperation in the field of museum affairs, developing exchanges of experience between museum curators, artists, and specialists, as well as promising areas of collaboration between the National History Museum of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Weltmuseum in Vienna were discussed.

It should be noted that the visit of the cultural delegation of the Republic of Austria to the Kyrgyz Republic is taking place from June 22 to 29, 2026, as part of a cultural project of the Austrian Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs. This visit follows the trip of Kyrgyz museum leaders to Vienna in June of this year and aims to develop long-term cultural cooperation for 2025–2028.

This meeting will contribute to strengthening cultural ties between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Austria, expanding inter-museum cooperation, and implementing new joint projects.
