A new road project linking Kochkor and Tokmok is under consideration in Kyrgyzstan. The proposed road would pass through Shamsi Gorge and could reduce the distance between the two locations by nearly half.
The project was discussed during President Sadyr Japarov’s working visit to Naryn region.
At present, the route from Kochkor to Tokmok is about 125 kilometers. Once the new road is built, the distance could be reduced to approximately 55–60 kilometers.
The project is currently being presented to potential investors. The new road is also being considered as a possible toll road. In addition, a gas pipeline connecting Chui region and Naryn region may be built along the route in the future.
