The next presidential elections in Kyrgyzstan will be held on January 24, 2027. It was announced at a meeting of the parliamentary committee on constitutional legislation, state structure, judicial, legal issues and regulations.
The committee approved the bill on amendments to the Law «On elections of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic and deputies of the Zhogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic» in three readings. The initiator is the head of state.
The bill was developed to bring the norm of Part 1 of Article 48 of the law into line with the Constitution and clarify the timing of the next presidential elections in the Kyrgyz Republic.
According to the amendments, the next presidential elections are held on the fourth Sunday of January of the year, in which the term of office of the president for which he was elected expires, and are scheduled by the Zhogorku Kenesh no later than four months before election day.
Sadyr Japarov was elected President of Kyrgyzstan on January 28, 2021 for a six-year term under the previous version of the Constitution.
