Agriculture dominates in the employment structure of Kyrgyzstan. It includes forestry and fisheries. Thus, 17.1 percent of the number of employed citizens are employed in the agricultural sector. The National Statistical Committee provided such data.
The second largest employers are wholesale and retail trade, car and motorcycle repair — 15.8 percent of all employment in the republic.
Construction takes the third place in terms of the number of jobs (12.5 percent). Next come the manufacturing industry (10.9 percent), education (9.8 percent), transport activities and cargo storage (8.4 percent).
A slight decrease in the share of people employed in agriculture was registered in recent years — from 18 percent in 2019 to 17 percent in 2023, in industry and construction — from 27 to 26 percent. On the contrary, an increase in employment from 55 to 57 percent was registered in the services sector.
