Deputy Zhanar Akayev proposed at a meeting of the Parliament to impose a moratorium on naming streets and villages after people.
Deputies discussed in the second reading a bill on renaming individual rural districts and villages in Batken, Naryn, Osh, Talas and Chui regions.
«According to this bill, 13 out of 17 villages are named after people. We must abandon this. There is a street named after Kaisyn Kuliev in Bishkek. I feel sorry for this man. Prostitutes are always detained on this street, stabbings occur. Kaisyn Kuliev is a poet and writer, journalist, war correspondent,» Zhanar Akayev said.
According to him, it is necessary to introduce a street numbering system.
