Construction sector is one of the largest sources of emissions. The President of Unison Group and the Manager of Green Economy Financing Program Nurzat Abdyrasulova said at the Green Energy Forum in Bishkek.
According to her, about 40 percent of all emissions in the country are associated with inefficient energy use in construction, while about 60 percent of energy is lost at the stage of operation of buildings.
«We believe that green construction plays a key role in the fight against climate change. It is very important to consider the entire life cycle of buildings and implement new standards that promote energy efficiency and reduce emissions. As part of our work, we organize sessions on green construction to raise awareness of the importance of this industry for the green economy,» Nurzat Abdyrasulova emphasized.
Unison Group has been operating in Kyrgyzstan since 2002 and over more than 20 years has accumulated significant potential in promoting energy efficiency and renewable energy sources (RES).
«We actively support businesses and households seeking to adapt to climate change by insulating their homes, installing solar power plants and heat pumps,» Nurzat Abdyrasulova added.
The green economy financing program operating in the republic includes the KyrSEFF initiative, which provides borrowers not only with loans for the implementation of green technologies, but also with grants on a gratuitous basis. The company’s president also noted that there are other programs that support green innovations, which encourages the private sector to more actively participate in solving climate problems.
«Involving the private sector in these issues is one of the key factors for success. Significant results in the fight against climate change can be achieved only through the joint efforts of business and the state,» she concluded.
