Traffic jam at Too-Ashuu pass, about 1,000 cars get stuck – Emergencies Ministry

A large traffic jam has formed on the section from 129^th to 132^nd kilometer of Bishkek — Osh highway at Too-Ashuu mountain pass. According to preliminary data, about a thousand cars are parked along the road. The press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan reported.

The traffic jam is caused by snowfall and ice. Traffic movement is hindered by trucks, drivers of which have not prepared their vehicles for winter conditions. Many have not changed their summer tires for winter ones, which aggravated the situation.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations has organized an operational headquarters to coordinate actions. Necessary work is being done to stabilize the situation.

Rescue services are working on the site: two rescue vehicles, four Kamaz trucks, a mobile control center, three pickup trucks and rescuers. Points have been organized in Sosnovka and Aral, where citizens are provided with hot meals.
