The Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan is working to achieve mutual recognition of halal certificates between countries. Officials have developed a draft resolution «On some issues in the field of halal industry development».
«Currently, the halal industry is rapidly gaining momentum in the world, and the global market for halal product consumption today is more than $ 1.5 trillion. At the same time, according to general statistical reports, the growth of this market will be 5-10 percent every year, which indicates the importance of developing the halal product market.
It should be noted that the range of halal products is constantly expanding, covering food networks for public and private schools, including airline catering and the production of semi-finished products,» the background statement says.
The share of the Muslim population in the Kyrgyz Republic is 80 percent, in connection with which the issue of compliance with halal standards both in the food industry and in other areas of life becomes relevant. At the same time, there is a high demand for high quality and safety of halal products, increased consumer confidence, increased competitiveness of local producers in the international market and attraction of investments in the industry.
In order to implement the designated tasks, the draft resolution proposes to approve:
- The procedure for conducting and implementing a certification system, products and services for compliance with halal standards, labeling products and services in the international market and attracting investments in the industry;
- The procedure for mutual recognition of certificates for halal products and services between countries.
