President comments on Kloop Media shutdown and Temirov's investigations

President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov commented on the shutdown of Kloop Media in his interview.

According to him, he learned about the Supreme Court’s decision to close the public foundation in the journalistic sphere from the media. He believes that this will not affect freedom of speech in the country.

For all these 30 years, we have taken anarchy for democracy, and gossip for freedom of speech. Now the public is recovering from these diseases. We have always had and will have freedom of speech. The main thing is to tell the truth and it does not matter who it is, we will always support the truth. Anarchy, gossip and false information are not freedom of speech.

The President suggested that Kloop Media is being closed because of one-sided investigations aimed at denigrating someone.

According to Sadyr Japarov, judges will not make such decisions without reason — everyone has witnessed how they spread false information.

When asked by a journalist about the government’s attitude towards investigative journalism, Sadyr Japarov replied that it supports everyone, who is involved in investigations.

There is only one request — to investigate all sides objectively. We will definitely pay attention, if someone steals or is involved in corruption, and we will punish them. We punish the guilty without them. Such investigations are a help to us. However, we often see one-sidedness, denigration for personal gain. Naturally, we cannot support such people.

The president also commented on the situation with investigative journalist Bolot Temirov. He recalled the saying: the dog barks, but the caravan moves on, and said that he did not pay attention to Temirov’s investigations.
