Bishkek City Hall plans to install smart water meters in residential areas

Bishkek City Hall plans to install «smart» water meters in residential areas. Mayor of the capital Aibek Dzhunushaliev announced at a joint meeting of the parliamentary factions Ata Jurt Kyrgyzstan, Ishenim, Yntymak and Mekenchil parliamentary group.

According to him, the work is being done to control the rational use of water in all residential areas.

Aibek Dzhunushaliev noted that in order to avoid a recurrence of the problem of water shortage in summer, certain studies were carried out at Orto-Alysh water intake, and the bottom of the artificially recharged lakes was cleaned. This has not been done for 30 years, and the well filters have also been cleaned.

«There are nine reservoirs at Orto-Alysh water intake; another one was built in winter. We reached an agreement with the Chui Main Water Management Department and signed a contract for the supply of 22 million cubic meters. The statistical water level has dropped to a critical level,» the mayor said.

In addition, work is underway to reconstruct Bashkara-Suu, Zone and KhBO water intakes. At least 150 million soms were allocated from the state budget for drilling wells in Bashkara-Suu; the municipality made five wells there.
